Carpentry is inspected especially for any gaps in the siding or trim of a home that creates a path for water to penetrate and leak behind the surface. One of the most common locations for this is along the top edge of the garage service door. This door usually does not have any sort of protection unlike the front and rear doors of the home. Water penetrates above the door and then leaks down the inside of the frame and causes deterioration to the base of the door. If the door trim is sealed and painted periodically, particularly along the top edge it will prolong the life of the door frame. Carpentry is also inspected for any wood rot, insect damage, dry rot and boards that have twisted and pulled away from the home.
