An enclosed garage has many safety features that give the occupants of a home time to escape in case of a garage fire.
The drywall between the garage and the living spaces is an additional 1/8″ thick and specially treated to be fire resistant. The inner door to the garage should have spring loaded hinges that cause the door to automatically close and latch.
To ensure your garage is fire safe, check that there are no holes in the drywall between the house and the garage and also make sure that the inner garage door to the house automatically closes and latches.
This will provide added security for you and your family.
